The beginning of this garden grew out of a community garden workshop held by the Fayetteville Community Garden Coalition in July 2010. Several of the individuals present that day got together a few weeks later to organize and the WPCG was born.
Since August 2010, about twenty people have been meeting almost weekly to plan and begin the Walker Park Community Garden, working closely with Lisa Netherland, Horticulturist for the City of Fayetteville.
We are an excited group of college students, senior citizens, parents, high school students, teachers, learners, old pros and beginners. We come from diverse backgrounds with a common purpose: to create space for gardening, learning, and community development. We invite everyone and anyone interested to join us.
